YouTube keeps playing the last video I watched

Question

NVIDIA Shield (2017). Every time I open the YouTube app, or choose a video in the channel bae, or follow a link to a YouTube video (eg a trailer in Google Play) it doesn't show me the video I want but it plays the last video I selected from within the app.

It's driving me crazy, and it doesn't happen when I cast from YouTube. Anyone experienced this and know how to stop it?

I've been experiencing it sometimes lately, but eventually it seems to have gone away :-/

it even happens on my desktop although fairly rarely.

If I exit the video before leaving the YouTube app it does not happen for me.
