Need to get it right this time

by jonathanjzero

Hello! So earlier today I returned my Mi Box S on amazon for a full refund. So I now have another chance to get a good Android TV Box. I know about the Nvidia Shields, and I'm definitely going to take a look at them, but is there really anything else? I don't want an off brand one. If anyone has a good experience with other certified boxes, please LMK. I live in the US so preferably one that's sold somewhere like Amazon. Thanks a lot!

Edit: Bought the shield! It's coming tomorrow, I'm very excited. Thanks everyone who provided advice.

With Shield owners upgrading to new 2019 Shield models, look out for a cheapish 2017 Shield.

It will run rings around anything else Android TV.

A pretty snappy Android TV device for the price paid will be the S905X2, 4GB RAM Mecool KM3 / KM9 Pro, however they do not do HD or greater Netflix.

The AirTV Mini, that will do Netflix HD also has a pretty snappy S905Y2 chipset, and does not cost the Earth:

In the budget space, both S905X2 and S905Y2 chipset are more powerful vs the old 2016 era S905X you find in the Mi Boxes and Jetstream.

The jetstream 4k sold at Walmart has decent reviews and many here on Reddit speak highly of it.
