Hi, I have a XGIMI H1 projector as my main unit which runs on android 5. To turn it on and off there is a remote (BT) which prompts a dialogue window asking for my shutdown method (off, turn lens off, reboot). It doesn’t have CEC.
I’m using an Nvidia shield connected to it as my main source. However I could not find a way to turn the projector on or off either via Nvidia shield or the Google home assistant.
In a perfect world I could just say turn on TV and both devices would come to life. Or I could just turn off the projector via the Nvidia shield remote. Period.
Any thoughts or ideas on which direction I could go? Thank you very much!
Edit: BTW I have purchased the Logitech Harmony Hub and even though I can use the profile of a firetv or shield to control it, it doesn't have the power button in the app. It does have a sleep button, but that just opens the 'sleep timer selection' on the H1. I'm wondering how the H1 remote actually powers the H1 on when it's powered off. The BT must be dead at that point, is there maybe a independent RF signal to wake the system up?
Edit 2: I have put a servo on an arduino to press via IR input from the harmony hub. To turn off I changed the keyboard layout on the android to power off the H1 when a certain button is sent via Bluetooth from the harmony remote. All very finicky but now it works like a charm when I use google home assistant.
I had to turn CEC off on my shield because it kept turning off my projector. I use a Harmony remote to control all my devices.
Have you tried turning on CEC to see if it turns on the projector with the shield?
