I have the Mibox S, not as powerful as as the shield but I can watch movies no problem

I switched to the stick as it does everything I need plus it has apple TV.

The Firestick/FireOS would be 100X better if it could mount/read NTFS formatted drives WITHOUT ROOTING. A lot of my my files are over 4 gigs, making the Fire TV devices worthless.

If you're in the UK, firestick 4k by a mile. Android TV apps for on demand UK content are almost non-existant. Also, I never had flawless performance with 1080p HEVC content on mi Box s with kodi, whereas the firestick has been perfect.

I get people don't like the Amazon interface, but that's only a real concern before you launch your desired app/service. Once you're watching, who gives a shit?

Capability wise they are about the same for streaming. The both play any format you may throw at it. Fire TV is going to be better supported than Mibox and costs less. I don't think I would buy a Mibox at regular price over a Fire TV Stick 4k at regular price.

FireTV for me. Amazon is constantly updating it with new features and my favorite feature, Echo Home Theater was just released in about November which allows you to pair two of the same echo devices to it to get surround sound! I use Echo Plus 2nd gens but can only imagine what it sounds like with echo studios!

If you want android tv, the mi box s is a good option IF IT'S ON 8.1 OREO. The android 9 update breaks features for some users
