PhilipS OLED TV MKV

by timmillwood

I went to go play an MKV video on my Philips OLED TV today as I have many many times, and today it told me the file isn’t supported.

What gives?

Undoubtedly the problem is the video codec type - or the bit complexity. It has nothing to do with the Matroska container.

You can always check the codec information in VLC. Just load the file and press Ctrl+J. Stream 0 codec is the video type, and Stream 1 is the audio.

Using which app?

It's possible the tv is powerful enough to play the file.

I use VLC becuase my LG v10 supports DLNA so I can watch movie wirelessly in other hand other hand MX-player does not support playing file over DLNA. I seen default player does not play some file so even cast the moives from my pc it directly goes to phlips default player.

Is there any way to change the default player to VLC ?
