YouTube lean back doesn’t open the video

I have a Nvidia shield but also had this issue with my smart tv’s own OS. When I click on a video in the leanback UI it sometimes opens the YouTube home screen or the last video I opened. If I back out and press on it again then it works. Is there a way to fix this?

Didn't they cancel lean back like years ago?

Edit: October 2nd 2019 so it wasn't years ago, but they did kill it 6 months ago.

I just use the smartyoutubetv apk and it works fine in leanback every time. Plus you won't have ads anymore.

It's a bug, nothing we can do about it.
