I only use the mi box for watching bluray remux files on kodi. And it's a champ. It passthrough the lossless audio and it puts out 4k HDR without a hiccup. I actually see no reason to go for shield tv when you want to stream/watch videos.
The reason I use my netflix on tv to stream is because it supports dolby vision whilst mi box doesn't.
Careful if you use Hulu. The Android update they did a month or so ago messed it up and nobody has fixed it. I don't have the issue but the reviews on playstore show it + my in-laws which will only work now if they cast to it.
Yes it is. I have a Shield as my main box for my living room and Mi for the bedroom. Cant beat the $29 Walmart special
Google is supposed to launch its owner android tv stick in coming months. It will look like Chromecast ultra but will have complete Android tv experience.
It is pretty much the only option. And you're still much better off with the shield.
I just bought a Verizon Stream TV and its better than my Mi Box.
