Controlling Mi Box 3 from a PC

by Bo_Duke_01

Good day ladies and fellas,

I've got a Xiaomi Mi Box 3 (Android 8) at my parents' house and I would like to be able to control it remotely.

I installed AnyDesk, but I can only visualize the screen without any possibility to perform any action: every time it tells me I need to activate the overlay for AnyDesk, but I can't find this option anywhere (I also did the trick to become a developer but with no results).

Could you please help me with this matter, either by telling me how to activate overlay for AnyDesk or suggesting another remote control application?

Thank you in advance

"alpha vnc lite" ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.abr.android.avnc&hl=en_US ) is an easy-to-use VNC server for Android device without ROOT permissions, like Mi Box. It uses Android Accessibility services. Although not labeled as Android TV compatible in Play store, it actually does support Android TV with sideload (probably dev didn't submit it to Google for official approval):

It works great with VNC Viewer ( https://www.realvnc.com/en/connect/download/viewer/ ) on PC with keyboard and mouse:

You can install "alpha vnc lite" on a phone from Play store and export its APK with SAI ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aefyr.sai&hl=en_US ), or directly download its APK here: https://apk.tools/details-alpha-vnc-lite-apk/ . Then sideload this APK on Mi Box. Free version has a 10-minute limit for each session.

Does the TeamViewer Host App appear on the Appstore?

I've never used TeamViewer to control an Android device, but based on the App description it should do what you want if it's compatible with the Mi Box.

AirDROID Mirror or VMLite VNC Server

I also would like to know how to do this. Anydesk and Teamviewer clearly don't have SDKs. How do we install the overlay-enabling SDK, assuming we can just root the device?
