I'm not able to change the default Google DNS on my smart TV (Mi TV 4a). Through the network settings I changed the IP to static and the DNS 1 & 2 to 1.1.1.1 but I got no connection. Then I installed the app "DNS changer" but it's impossible to use on TV. What can I do?
What DNS changer did you try?
I've been using Lilly DNS Changer on my Nvidia Shield for years now without any issues.
It's not technically an AndroidTV compatible app (has no app banner for AndroidTV), so it has to be sideloaded. However it's still controllable with only a remote.
It works by creating a VPN connection, but only changes the DNS settings of the connection, so it's still your connection, just the DNS gets changed.
It allows you to add multiple DNS servers (handy if you're trying multiple smart DNS services) and you can turn it on and off with ease.
I use it all the time to switch between US Amazon Prime and Canadian Amazon Prime video libraries.
Don't set both to the same IP. I think the alternate is 1.0.0.1. Also, did you actually set a static IP? I think it's possible to use DHCP for the IP, but change the DNS manually.
When trying static IP did you also set the correct IP, subnet mask and gateway? Using the same settings given by your router is the best idea.
What's the goal of changing your DNS?
You can sideload blokada, to block ads and change dns also the 1.1.1.1 apk.
change it directly via usb debugging. Google how to change private dns on nvidia shield , the steps will work on any android tv with pie at least, thats how i did it on my tv

I have a weird problem I change the dns to smart dns servers in my Xiaomi projector running Android tv 9. It saves the setting but even in static setting the dns servers keep reverting to Google DNS servers 8.8.8.8.
Even after a restart same story. I need to use smartdns to access geo restricted content.
These works fine in my Shield TVs only Xiaomi projector is the problem.
Any ideas??
