Anyone else seeing banner ads in YouTube Premium?

by kgeissler

This just started in the past couple weeks. I have premium, I should not see this stuff.

Yeah, same here. But mostly, it's corona related.

I chatted with YouTube support and they are going "to look into it". Take that for what it's worth.

The Andrea Bocelli ad? That's a special performance due to COVID-19 and in partnership with YouTube. Not an 'ad' but internal marketing which we all get for the YouTube originals etc.

morningtide

Yup, same issue here.

Smart YouTube tv is free and has no ads.

Yes I see it occasionally only (mi box)

I saw this today. Got upset for a few seconds and then moved on. I hope they do remove it though.

Is your subscription still active? My was just dropped for no reason by Google this month. I had to chat with their support a couple times to get it back.

BigGigabit

I see them too on my ShieldTV. The way I've been getting rid of them is changing from Home to a different tab. Still very annoying though

EDIT: Just opened up YouTube, and I have the same ad as you. I could only removrnit when I closed the app and reopened it.

FalsePhoenix

It started after they put out some banner ads about staying home up for everyone, guessing they enabled something in the back end and never got rid of it again

Mine did they back around Christmas time on the shield and then went away for awhile and now came back recently. Not a huge fan of it.

I got it a couple of times on Smart Youtube but it was just before the app told me there was an upgrade. I'd upgrade the app and restart it and the banner was gone each time

Not the banner ad, but I got an actual ad before playing a video, twice. Googled it, saw that others have the same problem, cancelled Premium immediately. Fuck this shit.

While I have YouTube Premium, I use Smart YouTube TV on my Shield because it’s Ad-free.

I think Google finds this to be acceptable since it's just suggesting videos to watch on its own platform. It's not an ad to buy a product or anything
