I can have a stupid dolphin emulator but I still don't have to e near app that Google broke.
On 64-bit Shield TV (not the 32-bit tube), you can now directly install the latest beta version from Play store. Sideload is no longer necessary unless you want the development version.

Also I noticed the latest version in Play store (5.0-11991) doesn't crash on Shield TV anymore when I long-hold the confirm button on a game. Previous versions would crash if I try to open the context menu for a game, which made it impossible to create per-game settings. Many GameCube/Wii games often require quite different settings.
