Go to settings, app, YouTube, set notifications off. Do the same for every app you don't want to insert his reccomandations in home. I prefer to have none, homepage on my old Sony Bravia (2015) is smoother so.
Scroll all the way left, hit the minus icon to remove any channel you don't want.
Furthermore, scroll all the way left, then look down for "Customize Channels" this is how you should be managing all your home screen channels. It's always been the way.
And you did "approve" it by adding YT to your homescreen and then not properly managing what its allowed to show :P
