I'm a Youtube Premium member, and I've started to notice that the Youtube on AndroidTv has started showing ads. I was under the impression that as a premium member you don't get ads ?

Have you created multiple channels from your premium account? I have noticed if I am not using the main account then I will see ads.
It's been happening for a couple months now. I just experienced it again over the weekend.

You could try "YouTube vanced".. Once set up no annoying ads AT ALL.. (once downloaded install the 'micro g ' file so you can then log into your YouTube account just like you would normally).. worth a shot.
Out of interest and so I can check when I'm in front of the TV, is it on an Android TV or and Android TV Box ?
It seems that in this instance OP was accidentally logged out, but for real, I've started to notice ads from time to time despite paying for Premium. Not as pre-roll video but just sitting there as a massive banner taking up half the screen on the Youtube landing page of the app. I'm using a shield so maybe it's Nvidia? Probably not though because the ad I saw specifically was for Apple TV. It's not there now, so maybe it was a mistake but I have seen it happen.
I'm also getting logged out at pretty much every app start and start seeing ads

You'd probably have better luck contacting the people you're paying for the service.
Sometimes I get silently logged out and will see ads. When I log back in, they're gone. Are you sure you're logged-in to the proper account?
