Can someone please post a screenshot of the control options on the GoogleHome app for Android TVs preferably for a Sony Bravia if that makes a difference?

Hey guys, I am looking for some help ensuring I set up my Sony Bravia 55X8500G for Google control. Sony hasn’t been helpful so far with tech support (their trouble shooting guides are pretty decent though). All the documentation I can find is about controlling other google home devices from the Sony TV which with google homes all over my house is completely useless to me.

I haven’t been able to find any screenshot of how any android tv presents on the Google home app? After logging into my google account on the TV I did get a device come up but I can’t control anything other than volume it’s just like a normal Chromecast so unless I’m casting something I can’t control anything?

The TV was sold as being the best for google integration but strangely I got a prompt to add to google home with a QR code on the screen took 5 seconds and that works great, I can control power and change inputs. I am a google home automation person though I did have Apple HomeKit set up already as I was testing all over the simple home automation options out.

I did try searching for the device like how I would normally add any other device (even other google homes, Chromecast etc) but I never find any devices

I followed Sony fault finding guide but still the exact same result.

Here’s what I see

It's not direct Google Home integration, but I use the Android TV Remote app ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.tv.remote&hl=en_US ) all the time to control the TV.

I also have a logitech harmony hub that allows me to issue voice commands to turn the TV on or off, but that's a separate investment.

I will say that overall, I've been disappointed in the Android TV integration to the rest of the Google Home ecosystem. It's not bad, it's just lacking given how much potential there is.

I have a Sony X700D and see the exact same thing as you in the Home app.

Hi,

TLDR = I think you're good, mate. Your Google Home recognizes it.

I am waiting on a new Bravia x950H to show up later this week so also curious. But I am pretty familiar with Home/Assistant. I am not clear on what you were expecting to happen, or what you are still looking for.

If you are looking for "TV Remote" Controls then as another suggested, the Android TV remote App sure... but Sony makes a remote App as well that may be better here. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=tv.remote.control.sonytv&hl=en_US

The way I see it, using Google Home... BEST CASE it should look something like a Next Hub Max on the home app, since this is the "google home" screen they sell specifically.

I do have one of those... and it looks pretty much exactly the same as your TV does in the screenshot. The only differences are that I can see the photos displaying since I have it on "photoframe mode" and I can click to view the nest cam built into it (both of which the TV would not show). Otherwise I cannot start or navigate media on the device unless something is playing.

But I would do that using the device itself, "chromecasting something with my phone" or just talking to Assistant. I believe I can do these things with the TV I am waiting for... however it seems a lot easier to use a remote?
