Block casting to TV and unlink devices

by kodaxmax

For some incomprehensible reason my mothers phone can cast to my TV. I can't find any way to "unlink" it and i have no idea if it's linked via her google+ or linked to the phone directly.

The TV itself has no options for even viewing linked devices, let alone disabling them. I assumed it was because she was part of my google home "household", but even removing her from that had no effect at all.

I'm at a loss, because at this point it's malware and by far the most insecure software I've ever used.

It's an inconvenience but I wouldn't call it malware.

Every phone connected to a WIFI network where a Chromecast, Chromecast Audio or Android TV device with Chromecast Built-in are also connected will be able to cast regardless if the phone is from a person who doesn't live in the house (Guests) where it is connected, at the time there is no way to "block" a user to prevent it from casting, as far as I know.

The only thing we can do so far is to turn OFF the casting notification to prevent unaware users to stop it by accident or to avoid being bothered with it.

Is there some reason you can't just ask her not to cast to your TV?

Is this your house that she is living in or her house that you are living in? If it's your house, set up a guest wifi network and don't allow anyone else on your main network.

Only people on the same network as the Chromecast device can cast to it so if you're the only one on that network, there won't be a problem. Don't give your wifi password out to people. Use a guest network if you want to allow others to connect to wifi in your home.

If it's her house and you are living with her then have a conversation with her about this or get your own router.
