I don't know how my new Smart TV can lack something as essential and basic as a web browser.

Firefox for Android tv
Firefox for Android TV sideloaded. Very Remote friendly and I can sync with my account.
I'm using Kiwi browser (side loaded) with a wireless mouse/keyboard, supports desktop chrome extensions.
Release version (158-1.apk): https://github.com/kiwibrowser/android/releases
Both of my TVs have included web browsers, on my LeEco Super4 was very functional since the remote was also an air mouse. On the Hisense H8G I recently purchased the included browser is called SrafHiBrowser and it works nicely also.
The best browser for Android TV is called TV Bro, it actually supports downloading and setting a button for voice search.
Firefox for FireTV, sideloaded. It can't handle downloads and "intent://" urls (errors out in such a case) and can't do voice control, but otherwise it is great! This is on an Nvidia Shield TV.
Puffin browser works best. The only one I have found that supports cut and paste properly.
There are no good browsers available for TV's. Android TV has never had one included. They are not seen as basic items on any platform besides Fire TV and that was not always the case either. But yeah you can install which ever one you want they all will work to one extent or another. Puffin, Firefox, Chrome, and so on.
Since mobiles became smartphones I have never had a reason to use a browser on TV.
Chrome (sideloaded), navigate with a mouse
Yandex Browser? Why? It has Chrome extensions support so it allows me to change the user-agent to Windows 10 (so I don't have to open Stadia.com in desktop mode every time)
I have numerous Android boxes and I ALWAYS use a web browser. I prefer the Chrome browser because it shows all my book marks and fills in my user names and passwords as setup.
This is the Chrome version that I use and it has copy/paste function as well as opening links in new tabs.
Search for this APK > Chrome-57.0.2987.132_arm(4.1+).apk and install it.
Couple this browser with the $10 USD remote with air mouse and Voice, G30s and you have a perfect setup.....
Never really felt a need to use a browser on my shield. There's what my Chromebook and desktop is for.
Puffin
Puffin. The older versions allow downloading too.
I installed Firefox version from Fire TV as some people said it is the best for now but i didn't try it too much... You can find the APK on Apkmirror if you want to try it
