Which Android TV Box

I'm looking for a new Android TV box for the bedroom. I've an Nvidia Shield in the lounge and had a non-Android TV Beelink android box in the bedroom which has recently died. I need something which has spdif/toslink out as my audio setup in the bedroom requires this. Hence another Shield or one of the Xiaomi boxes are out. I'm seeing the Minix Neo T5 and also a few boxes from Mecool have spdif/toslink out. Anyone recommend these, or any other alternatives? Whatever box I buy will be used for standard stuff like Disney/YouTube/Netflix and for watching movies on my USB external drive.

The Mi Box has spdif output. It's a mini plug rather than the normal size plug.

If you would prefer a Shield you actually have 2 options. (I'm assuming you have an AVR in your bedroom that doesn't have HDMI input) You should obviously try these with your existing Shield before buying a second one.

Option 1 - HDMI out from the Shield into your TV, TOSLink out from your TV into the AVR... note that some TVs only ouput 2 channel audio from the TOSLink connection, and others will passthru multichannel audio.

Option 2 - You can buy a small device that takes the HDMI Input from the Shield and has an HDMI out for Video and TOSLink out for audio. I got one from Amazon recently as my old AVR doesn't have HDMi input

If your tv has spdif/toslink output you can still hook up a shield to your tv through hdmi and output the sound to your receiver through the spdif/toslink of your tv.
