Android TV + Google slides as cheap narrowcasting solution possible?

by eddd92

I am looking for a very low-effort narrowcasting solution (for showing events and menu in a bar)

We have been working with the Intel Compute stick before (win 10) but the maintenance is too high.

I am curious if there is a possibility to use Android TV to show a Google Slide as screensaver or by an Android TV App.

The idea behind this is to have low maintenance costs and it is still easy for us to edit the presentation (on another device)

I am aware that i could use the built in chromecast to cast the Google slide, but the idea is to not bother the bar staff with casting.

Is anything like this possible without extra hardware?

Whats wrong with the compute stick? I dont think android tv would be good for this use case.

I imagine the only way would be to load up the browser on the TV then go to the published Google Slide presentation. From my experience after you edit the Slide presentation you need to refresh the browser page on the device viewing it.

There are some solutions for offices etc that work well on any device but they take a monthly fee

Sideloading the Slide (phone) apk file maybe?

You'll need a mouse to navigate I guess.

With a Chromecast you can have an image album on your Google Photos account as a screen saver. My partner and I have a shared folder that we can add pictures to and the TV will just rotate through them randomly.

This is assuming your Google Slides is just a few images/text. Each slide can just be an image file in that Google Photos folder. You can then edit that folder via an internet connection anywhere in the world and it would run live in your TV.
