How to close apps

by hannon101

Can someone please tell me how to close an app. The older software version used to have a very intuitive way to do it, but the latest os update has taken that away.

Long press home, the apps list will pop up. Long press enter on the app you want to close, info, force close.

This feature is removed from Oreo update.

Following... For the life of me I can't figure out how to close apps without restarting the system. But it doesn't seem to need kich restarting or closing of apps. I have a TCL P8M.

I don't have access to my TV right now so it's not exact but you have to go to settings then apps . Click the app and force close .

Long press doesn't work for EVERY TV but this method will.

The trick is to never open your apps from the Home screen. Do it the following way instead. If you do it this way every day, though at first you might feel it to be tiresome, it will be rewarding on the long run. Trust me with this :)

Open all apps this way, instead of opening them from the Home screen or the Apps screen.

Step 1:

First, select your app from here: Home - -> Settings - - > Storage and Reset - - > Internal Shared Storage - - > Apps - - > Select your app here, either from the list of Downloaded Apps or System Apps.

A) Downloaded Apps All the apps you downloaded from the Google Play Store will be listed under Downloaded Apps.

B) System Apps All the apps that came with the TV are listed here. System Apps that you would need to open would mostly be limited to:

Album Google Play Store Netflix Prime (Amazon) Video YouTube

Step 2:

Once you have selected an app from the list of Downloaded Apps or System Apps, you will find an OPEN button in that screen. Select that button. This opens the app like it does normally, like when you open it from the Home screen or the Apps screen. Use the app as would do normally. After using the app, exit the app (come out of it) as you would do normally. This should take you back to the same screen from where you selected the OPEN button. Except, now you will see a FORCE STOP button (right next to the OPEN button) in that screen. What this button tells us is that, even though you have exited (come out of) the app, the app's process is still running in the background, which is almost equivalent to the app still being open. So let us stop it. Select that FORCE STOP button. Select OK on the warning screen. You will now be back to the same screen where the OPEN button for this particular app is. Except, now the FORCE STOP button would be not there in this screen. That's it. You have now opened an app, used it, closed it and also stopped it from running in the background. Now you can use any other app the same way. After using all apps for the day, go to step 3.

Step 3:

Whenever we use an app, the system downloads and buffers a lot of temporary data (video, pictures, audio, etc.,.) from the Internet. It is good practice to Clear all of this temporary data every day. This will give more free space for the system to operate, in turn speeding up the system response time, and increase overall efficiency. To do this, go to:

Home - -> Settings - - > Storage and Reset - - > Internal Shared Data - - > Select "Cached Data" from this screen - - > Select OK on the warning screen - - > You should be back to the Internal Shared Storage screen again.

That's it. You have now cleared the buffer (system cache) and have freed up some memory, which is now available for the system to utilize the next time it runs an app. In case you see that the data displayed under Cached Data has not changed even after clearing the cache, do it again. It should now display the correct data in the cache. Alternatively, you can press the BACK button in the TV remote to go back one screen, and then come back again. This too should display the correct data in the cache.
