Shield TV Pro VS Ematic Jetstream VS Mi Box S

by b6559149

Hello all. Couldn't find a Discord server so figured I'd post. I've been using a Fire Stick TV for the longest time and it has given me nothing but issues, even after modifying my WiFi network. So I am looking to upgrade to an Android TV Box and need some advice.

For context, right now I have a 1080p 50" not-Smart TV. I do plan on upgrading to a 4K TV in the future, but (due to COVID and financial reasons) currently I just need a good media device for streaming Netflix, Plex, etc. but I am also interested in using Game Streaming so I can play games from my Gaming PC (Steam, etc.)

I don't want to spend the $200 on a Shield TV Pro unless it's worth it over the other two. Just need some opinions. Thank you much.

I have Nvidia shield pro ($200) and jetstream ($40).

I would do with shield if it's your main source of video content. I have it in my living room and the snappiness is great.

I have the jetstream in my bedroom and it does just fine for bedroom watching which is light at best. The interface similar of course but the shield is just better user experience. The WiFi is quite slow but when it's hardwired it's comparable to shield. But at 40$ I'd buy it again if I needed another box.

I have a shield and a mibox of course the shield is much better, that said when you look at it from a value perspective they are both worth every penny.

For 1080p, Mi Box is really all you need. It does well at that resolution. And you save money.

For 4k, get the shield. Even the tube version is pretty good granted you don't push it with uncompressed 4k HDR off a hard drive. And it's cheaper than the pro.

If you only have a SDR 1080p TV and do not want to spend a fortune, do yourself a favour and get the TiVo Stream 4K for around $50.

It will definitely be snappier and more powerful vs the 2015 Tech in the Mi Boxes or Jetstream.

TiVo 4K is a bargain if you ask me, considering it has the best remote in the business as well.

AC MIMO WiFi is reported to be excellent.

Note: I would not use this device connected to any HDR TV until TiVo fix show stopper HDR Firmware bugs.

Mecool km1 4gb with 32gb storage. No Netflix 4k though

I forgot to include that the verizon stream tv is also a good choice. But no usb port though

Avoid everything Mecool branded if you want to use the legit, easy to use, mainstream, integrated properly, Android TV OS Netflix App.
