Google fixed issue not allowing users to turn off “Let others control your cast media” on Android TVs

by evannp

Not sure if everyone has encountered this issue, or how long it has been fixed, but about a month ago I noticed I couldn’t turn off this setting for the Chromecast built into my Android TV. It was irritating, and appeared to be even more troublesome for some users with shared wifi connections in their apartment complex who had posted to the subreddit looking for an answer to their problem.

Well today it let me turn it off. Not sure if this is only news to me or if it works for everyone, but I figured I would share, even if it only helps one person struggling with this issue.

Cheers.

Yes, it was fixed in a previous version of the Google Home app, however, "Ambient Mode" is still NOT working and I assume the fix is coming with a new update to the "Backdrop Daydream" app which is currently rolling out: https://www.reddit.com/r/AndroidTV/comments/hslcdb/after_three_years_a_new_update_to_backdrop/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x
