Custom Ambilight colors with third party app?

by whySoserious01

So I've been using the Philips "The One" TV (55pus7304/12) for a few months now with Androit TV and i love it. The TV is amazing, 4k, HDR+, what ever floats your boat (apart from oled lol).

To get to the point, the tv uses the Ambilight feature from Philips as it has built in LED stripes at the back of the tv. If the TV is turned off, you can turn on the leds with the remote but only with a handfull of preset colors.

Sooo since Ambilights are LEDs and is able to produce almost any color you want, i was curious if there's maybe an App for Android TV where you can control and customize the color/brightnes (maybe timer) of the LED stripes.

So far I havent found anything on the Play Store yet and the Philips customer service was less helpfull.

This app that has been mentioned I use it with my Nvidia shield TV. It's a 3rd party ambilight app, you can buy a led kit that you just plug in to android TV and put them around your TV, it will work. It won't work with Phillips ambilight, but as you mentioned your TV has android TV built in, you could buy a set of 3rd party LEDs and put them around your TV and it will work with them but does seem kinda pointless if you already have them built-in the TV but you do have the choice seen as you have Android TV. Anyone with and Android TV device I recommend this piece of software, I was going to buy a Phillips ambilight TV until I saw this and instead bought a better and bigger inch tv for the same price and created my own ambilight with this, works perfectly once configured.

Had no idea I could turn just the lights on whilst in standby.

You might be able to achieve something like is via a home assistant intergration https://community.home-assistant.io/t/philips-android-tv-ambilights-light-component/67754
