Disney+ + Philips 50PUS8204 TV + 5.1 Optical Surround Sound - Not Working.

I have Amazon Prime which works flawlessly via the optical spdif cable running to my speakers.

Contacted help.disneyplus.com today and asked why 5.1 surround sound doesn't work with my current setup when Amazon Prime does.. They said that the Disney+ app doesn't support 5.1 surround sound on the Philips 50PUS8204 TV which is a huge disappointment as one of the selling points behind me joining Disney+ was 5.1 surround sound which they do offer but isn't supported apparently.

Has anyone been able to get 5.1 surround sound working via Disney+ on the Philips 50PUS8204 TV via multichannel optical out ?

Philips tv is fully up to date and is running Android 9.

Unlike Netflix and Prime Video, Disney Plus doesn't support Dolby Digital Plus to Dolby Digital conversion, it doesn't even have an alternate stereo audio option unlike Netflix and that has been causing audio issues to some users, I guess they will address this inconvenience but who knows when.

I have a 5.1 surround connected to my Philips 75PUS8305 Android TV. Netflix and other apps work without problems.

But I do experience problems when watching Disney+ content. For example, when starting a movie, my surround system gets a Dolby Digital + signal. But after like 10min, it loses sound completely, and its like the app is not giving surround sound signal anymore because when i press “surround” on the remote of the surround system, it switches true some fake surround profiles.. otherwhise when a real surround signal is send by tv, pressing “surround” displays the “Dolby Digital +” text on the home cinema display and cant switch to fake surround profiles.
