Hey everyone,
I purchased a Mi Box S recently so I can watch Netflix and YouTube in 4k. For some reason, Netflix won’t display in 4k. YouTube works perfectly and displays 4k footage perfectly, but Netflix is always in HD.
I can’t uninstall Netflix on my Mi Box (as it’s built-in, I even tried uninstalling it through Aptoide) so I’m struggling to figure out why I can’t seem to watch Netflix in 4k.
Just a couple of notes before people ask in the replies:
- Yes, I am using a HDMI cable that can display 4k (YouTube was an example of that)
- My display resolution on my Mi Box has been set to 3840x2160, and my TV recognizes the resolution as such.
- I am on a Wifi connection, but my box sits right beside the router and my speedtests usually come up at 150+ download speeds.
- I have tried unplugging the box and HDMI cable and rebooting but that doesn’t change anything either.
Thanks in advance!
I had the same problem. The problem is not with MiBox but with TV setting. I have a Philips 4K UHD TV. Go to your TV settings and find "EDID Version" settings. Change it to the highest version. For me, it defaulted to v1.4 and I couldn't get 4K60hz. After I changed it to EDID v2.0 I could see 4k60hz in the MiBox Display Resolution options. Netflix UHD is available only at 60hz. Even if you have 4k but set at 30hz, it will not show up. Hope this helps.
Note: Ensure that the TV is set to the MiBox HDMI source. Also in some TVs, not all the HDMI ports support 60hz. So you might try switching between HDMI1, HDMI2 or HDMI3 till you get the results.
