Remote help

by Schmelectra

I live in Turkey and we have crazy taxes on foreign tech so I did some research and bought a Peaq tv. From what I can tell, it’s basically a Lenovo but produced in partnership with MediaMarkt (a German-run Best Buy type of place) and made in Turkey. Obviously, I’m here because it’s Android.

The problem is that my remote has stopped working. It’s not batteries because there’s a red light on the thing that works, the TV has stopped responding. I connected my mouse and fussed around in the settings but there was nothing about the remote. Now I’m super fucked because I connected my computer via HDMI cable and now there’s apparently no way to get back to the “home screen”. I’ve tried restarting it and I fully power it down (both w/o the hdmi cable connected) but nothing has worked, it’s still suck on the hdmi input.

So I’m wondering a few things. Is there a separate remote I can get that would just work (like with a usb connector similar to a mouse)? Or could I get a mi stick and just plug that in and have it work without needing to access the home screen? Or is there like a magic way to fix this that I don’t know about?

I’m super at a loss as to what to do and really irritated because I ordered the thing online and there was nothing to say that I needed to have a guy come and “install” it otherwise my warranty would be voided but that’s apparently what has happened. I just never would have guessed that I needed someone to literally just take it out of the box, put the little feet on it, place it on my tv stand, and plug it in.

Extra info: the model no is apparently SN49DAL08. I googled what I thought was the model number to try to troubleshoot and didn’t find it so after more googling, it looks like it’s been rebranded as Sunny because there’s a picture of my tv but instead of having “Peaq” on the front it says “Sunny”. I have no idea what’s going on, tbh.

I have relatively limited access to foreign tech and I can’t order tech from abroad. Thanks, Turkey.

You could try some Android TV remote apps on your phone.

For what it's worth, i swapped a Bluetooth remote on my Android TV. I had to use the original remote to enter pairing mode (which appears to be a show stopper in your case)

I would also replace the batteries because it takes very little power to illuminate a LED.

did you check on the manufacturer website if there is a fw upgrade?

if its like sony, you powerup your tv with an usb stick allready plugged in with the fw file

in its root directory

try https://www.sunny.com.tr/sunny-sn49dal08

Not familiar with the brand of TV but do you know if the remote is IR or Bluetooth? If it was Bluetooth you should be able to connect pretty much any Bluetooth smart remote available on Amazon or whatever you have access to over there. Failing that if you could figure out which Lenovo TV it's a rebrand of you might be able to get an original Lenovo remote that should work. Perhaps. In theory.

Worst case if the TV is still showing whatever is input on the hdmi source then your idea of a cheap Mi stick or equivalent would work fine, the stick would handle all the Android TV stuff and the TV would be purely display.

I can't speak to every single brand, and I'm not heard of peaq, nor Lenovo TVs, but Logitech Harmony remotes are usually pretty well suited to control *anything#...

Check the remote is outputting a pulse by fireing it into your phones camera lens whyle viewing the screen of your phone.

In a dim or dark room you should see the ir led flashing as you press a button on the remote.

Episode # 552 of the continuing saga "I Cheaped Out and Bought an Off-the Wall, Generic Android Device" starring some poor Turkish guy.

Sorry but you're in the wrong forum.

Likely the only folks that have any familiarity with this device are your other gullible compatriots in local discussion boards.
