5.1 not working in Disney+ Mibox S

by colako

I'd any of you having the same problem? 5.1 works perfectly fine in any other app such as Netflix or Hulu, but Disney+ doesn't even offer the option of having 5.1 audio, just language and subtitles. Is it a hardware, software problem? Or maybe my subscription doesn't include it?

Disney+ has only one audio track and it is Dolby Digital Plus, which has caused issues to some users not having sound.

Can you please describe your audio setup?

If your TV or receiver can't decode EAC3 (DD+), the Mi Box won't convert it for you thus you will get no sound. Its a common problem with the Mi Box even though its Dolby certified, it just won't convert to AC3 like it should.

I had the same problem not too long ago.

Turns out my TV doesn't support EARC. So the fix was to upgrade to an AVR and connect a Firestick 4K UHD to the AVR.

My setup now allows me to receive all Dolby digital encodings from Disney+, Netflix and Amazon Prime.

It's a pain in the ass but I hope this info helps!

Tested streaming from Chromecast to MiBox S and 5.1 works. It's totally the app.

Disney + was launched a year ago and 5.1 still does not work through the app. Any hope of when it will work without cast? I'm tired of having to cast from my phone every time I want to watch something with 5.1 on Disney +
