[Guide] Getting Microsoft Teams working on Android TV

by Yoshiofthewire

Requirements:

  1. An Android TV Device
  2. A USB Webcam (Almost any will work)
  3. A USB Flash Drive

Prerequisites:

  1. A Copy of Teams compatible with your device - MS Teams - APKMirror
  2. Set Orientation to fix the rotation of the app - Set Orientation - APKMirror
  3. Sideload Launcher - Sideload Launcher - Google Play Store
  4. X-Plore - X-Plore - Google Play Store

Note: You can replace SideLoad Launcher and X-Plore with the TV Launcher and File Browser and installer of your choice.

Installation:

  1. Download Teams from APKMirror. Try the armeabi-v7a build first.
  2. Download Set Orientation from APKMirror.
  3. Copy these files on to your USB Flash Drive
  4. Install X-Plore and Sideload Launcher on your TV from the Google Play Store
  5. Go in to Settings on your TV and enable installing from X-Plore
  6. In X-Plore browse to your flash drive, and click on on the APK to start the install.
  7. Once both APKs are installed, go to the Sideload launcher.
  8. Launch Set Orientation, ignore the error, and set the rotation to Auto rotation (Forced)
  9. Launch Microsoft Teams from the Sideload launcher.
  10. Login to Microsoft Teams like normal.

Known Issues:

For some uses a mouse is needed.

Audio volume for people in a conference is low.

So far I have had issues with the mic cutting out after a few seconds. (May be related to Bluetooth speakers attached to the TV, lacking a mic)

This requires testing on different / better hardware.

Current Setup:

Hisense 43H6570G with a Junk webcam and bookshelf speakers connect by a cheap Bluetooth amp.

I have also same problem, with mic cot off after exactly 30 seconds, I think is a problem with app, I tried many versions but no results, I use tv box mecool KM1 and camera Logitech c525 maybe somebody find a solution for this bug

OwnStorm

That's great tutorial.

however, with casting via Chrome browser or phone's screen is much more convenient. I wish Chromecast would be in FHD or 4K to match resolution of Tv and source.

Why would you want to smear dog poop all over your TV? Teams is a clusterf.
