The device is brand new and it only seems to work with Netflix. Youtube also glitches. I'm thinking it is defective, but maybe there's a solution out there.

The device is defective if video problems are seen in more than one App.
Try using a different HDMI cable and see if that fixes the issue, I’ve had glitches before and it was a bad cable which otherwise seemed fine.

I think it’s because of overheating. You should seperate it from the wall if it’s close to. I’m using mitv stick too but it never happened to me.
Give it power from its power adapter and not usb port of TV.

Return it and get the MiBox S instead, have been using mine for almost 2 years and it performs like a champ even in 4k with Netflix and YouTube.
I genuinely have no problems with mine. Made sure I enabled developer then used ADB to get rid of the crap. No problems using Prime, Netflix, VLC, Kodi or my IPTV app.
Remote was a pain in the arse for a bit but it's ok now. Not great but better and usable

Has anyone one came up with a solution? I am having the same issue with Prime... subtitles not synced, lagging and when casting from Phone, sometimes it crashes.
im pretty happy with my mi stick especislly for the price. i did have some glitches at the start but then i tweaked it and its working great now

Mine has worked flawlessly, all apps including Kodi work perfectly smooth streaming from local and remote sources
"Pixeling" is usually low bandwidth. Can you hardwire and try again?
The device is not worth buying. It's very low in ram. Hardly 600mb left for third party apps usage. If you can return it go ahead. This device will give a lot of more troubles ahead. It heats up alot very quickly
