Android TV on PC

by l0ngle

Hey guys, new to the subreddit :)
So, let's get straight to the point, I have a old Vaio Tap 20 that I don't use and I want to make a TV of it, I've seen some videos on YouTube about it but information is scarce.

I have also seen a XDA thread about it, but that was in 2018 and is really not updated. Also I've seen Netflix doesn't work.

I have ran Kodi (LibreELEC) on my machine before, but I wanted to know if there was any ATV x86 possibility, as I kinda don't like Kodi as much as native Android.

Any help and info would be greately appreciated :)

You could try Bliss Roms for PC or RemixOS ( it's been a while I tried it). However, these versions will not provide the Android TV UI, instead it will be like the phones but you could find some sort of launcher on Play Store for that look.

As for the Netflix app, you might face Widewine DRM issues but I'm not sure.

If you want to watch TV only, I guess you'll be limited to IPTV or streaming services without a TV tuner.

Hope this helps.

I'm little confused by " don't like kodi as much as native android" thing... What do you think kodi is?

Last time I checked these x86 Android doesn't have hardware decode possible so basically no use.
