Does such a device exist? I want Dolby Vision, Atmos, Apple TV+ and Netflix in DV/DA.

by Varekai79

I have a home theatre set up (TV, 4K player, PS4, cable box, receiver and speakers). My Android TV has Netflix built-in, which can output in Dolby Vision but does not output in Dolby Atmos. My 4K player can output Netflix in Dolby Atmos but not in Dolby Vision. My PS4 can do neither. None of these devices has Apple TV+. So I'm looking for the Holy Grail device that can do all of these things. I was looking at the Nvidia Shield yesterday and it is so close, except it doesn't have Apple TV+, at least not natively.

I do plan to get a PS5 in a couple months. Sony is being very hush hush as to what it will offer for non-gaming media output, but fingers crossed that it will tick off all of my boxes.

EDIT: The Apple TV 4K does all these things! Thanks to /u/Geniex5.

The Nvidia Shield is the ONLY one that provides all that except APPLE TV+. Just in case you need further information about all Android TV devices, please visit Android TV Guide .

It's funny to hear Apple TV + and holy grail in the same sentence.

It does, its an Apple TV 4K

To my knowledge, the only thing Apple TV lacks is lossless DTS-X support. And it doesn't have the Shield's AI upscaling or ability to run a Plex server. And you can't expand the storage on an Apple TV the way you can a Shield. But otherwise, the ATV stacks up nicely against the Shield.

Though given the limited amount of content on Apple TV+, I'm not sure I'd build my whole home theatre around just being able to use that app. But to each their own!

Fire TV Cube 2nd gen or apple tv 4k. With the Cube you'll have youtube 4k hdr, with the apple you won't.
