So I've seen many posts with people claiming to use IR remotes with the mi box. But I've tried many codes and apps with my IR equipped mobile phone and nothing works. Even xiaomi's official app doesn't seem to do the trick. Am I doing something wrong? Are there different versions of this box around?
I am using the Mi Box S and there is an option under settings called HDMI CEC and in there is a CEC switch so when I turn it on I have the basic controls (up down left right ok and back). I don't know where I read but I think it really depends on what remote you use, I have a philips tv so i use its remote and it works just fine.
Yes it is, at least the non S version. I can control it with a Broadlink RM through my phone.
You could always get a FLIRC USB-IR reveiver and configure a remote to it.
mi box 3 (mdz16ab) has ir receiver, it works with ir remote.
mi box s (mdz22ab) doesn't have ir receiver.
