The Mi Box supports HDMI-CEC but your TV should also support it, to turn this ON on the device, go to settings and look for the aforementioned feature, turn ON everything except the last option which could change the language of the device to chinese or korean.
On your TV look for HDMI-Link or something similiar and turn it ON.
Take into account that depending on the TV you could also be able to control the volume with Mi Box's remote.
It's a bit strange. I have CEC enabled, but as I understand it, there are a lot of different ways that CEC is implemented by different TV manufacturers.
If I turn the MiBox off with the remote, it leaves the TV on, if I ask Google Assistant on another device to turn the MiBox off, it will turn off the MiBox and the TV!
Turning on the MiBox doesn't turn my TV on with the remote, but if I turn it on then press the home button a couple of times, it will turn the TV on and switch to the correct input -- again, asking Assistant to turn on the MiBox will turn on the MiBox and the TV and switch input.
