will we see a shield TV price drop after Sabrina release?

by jumblegook

I'd like to get a shield tv pro for gaming but am holding off to see if we might get a slight price reduction after this new googletv/chromecast upgrade comes out at the end of Sept.

I understand they're different and aimed at different people but this cheaper device might steal some of Nvidia's customers

Do you think Nvidia will have some sales before the end of the year?

I would not expect this new device to have any impact on Shield TV pricing. Now you may find some retailers doing holiday sales later in the year, but not because of this device.

Don't think so. But do expect good price around holidays.

I doubt it. It seems to me the Shield Pro and Sabrina are going for two different markets. People who just want a cheap streamer for Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, etc. aren't the market for the Shield.

Perhaps the Pro will get a discount on Prime Day and/or Black Friday. But demand for the Pro has been sky high. Though I wouldn't be surprised if you saw the Tube's price drop a bit. At 150.00, that was definitely a misfire on Nvidia's part, and more the market that Sabrina is going for.

If anything the new device will effect Roku Ultra and Fire Cube pricing since that's it's competition. The Shield still lives in a world of it's own.

Doubt it. More likely it will impact sales number of Nvidia. Interesting that others are suggesting there will be some good black friday deal for shield.

Sabrina can sideload any app using apk file?

Different companies... so no, I doubt any price change. At best this may prompt Nvidia to make a newer and better version of the shield for competition, but I doubt that would be cheaper either.

With series S with 25$/month with subscription, if you're in US no need to buy Shield. If not, Google's version is as fast as any 905x2 device so Sheild has no competition.
