Android TV remote iOS app asks for pairing every time

I don't know if it was because of the iOS14 upgrade but the Androit TV remote iOS app now asks for pairing every single time I want to use it.

Has anyone encountered this? Do you have any tips that could solve it?

BTW iOS 14 & Sony XBR900F with latest firmware

I had this issue on android not iOS when I first tried the app. not sure what happened but it stopped needing to pair every time after a while. 🤷🏽‍♂️ wish I knew why besides time or magic
