One remote - the dream. Hdmi-cec newbie.

by nothalfas

I am trying to make my new Nvidia shield tv control the volume on my new Linsar ls75uhdsm20 smart TV, so I only have 1 remote.

Both devices say they support hdmi-cec. Should hdmi-cec allow volume to be adjusted by the Shield? Do all the HDMI ports on the tv support CEC? How can I tell if my HDMI cable is the problem?

Thank you kind strangers!

I have an old Sony TV and do this with my shield.

  1. while in not sure about the 2019 shield, my 2015 shield could control the volume, it was just bad at it.
  2. CEC should work in any port.
  3. any HDMI cable should work.

I use the Sony remote to control the shield tv and it works great.

I think to control the volume on the TV you would have to go into the shield settings and tell it not to change the shield volume. Did you do that?
