Please help me repair my Smart TV (Android 2017)

by MandloreTheBroken

I have a TCL 4K Smart TV, Model Number 55C2US.

The TV will not load into the main menu. It remains on the TCL Logo for 19 second, before entering the google loading screen. However, the Google Loading screen enters an infinite loading loop.

After doing some research, it seems I need to reinstal the operating system of the TV.

The problem is, I do not have access to the TV's opperating system. I have a USB slot of the TV, if I had an auto-exucutible program that automatically reinstals the operating system, or factory rests it, then I beleive I'll be able to fix my TCL Smart TV.

You can easily reinstall android. Just download your tv firmware from official TCL support page, put the iso file on usb, turn off tv from power socket. Insert usb, hold physical power button on tv, put it back in the socket, keep holding power button. It will boot to recovery and autoflash firmware from usb stick.

I don't have a TCL TV but you can try this general method,

Try Power ON+ Vol up/Down button while booting to enter Recovery Mode. Ther you should get Factory reset option.
Hope this helps.

My equally shitty TCL androidtv kinda did a similar kind of thing. Kept on looping the Google logo.

I'd suggest that you download the firmware from TCL website and folklore the instructions to flash the firmware. Process if fairly simple, just make sure you have stable electricity becuase any cut in middle of the process might complicate the issue even further.

Btw, before you do this. Have you tried removing the Ethernet cable, in case your tv is connected via the cable? My stuck tv only worked after i removed my Ethernet cable.

Download from https://support.tclelectronics.com.au/software-version/

Instructions are on page however : INSTRUCTION (how to use software update) :

  1. Turn off the TV (mains power off)
  2. Insert the USB stick with the correct software (software must be provided by TCL)
  3. Press and hold the power button on the TV.
  4. Turn on mains power to the TV (while keeping the power button pressed)
  5. After about ten seconds, you will see the upgrade notification on the TV, as soon

as you see this, release the power button. The TV will now update. Do not disconnect

or press any buttons, until you see the Google welcome page. The update is now done.

I tired with the oldest version and it went back into the infinite load screen, though I haven't waited longer than 10 mins yet. I installed the very first firmware release, should I repeat the process, but try the most recent update?

You're all legends, thank you so much! Saved me $400 ($2000 tv though)

Okay, so, now I'm back to my original problem. The TV says its connected to the internet, but nothing will connect, and it's practically not connected to the internet at all.

Any ideas?

Ok, so, netflix works. But no other app will. I mean, at least I can still use my TV now.

I am the same person. I need to get the latest update or at least one more recent than 2017. I've tried everything to find a page with the firmware, but just like last time, I think I need to turn to Reddit for help. I anyone at all can provide me with the firmware files, I'll be forever grateful
