Is this launcher put some random stuff on your home screen which you don't care about but is popular in your country. Firestick does that and it's just annoying.

Hopefully the chromecast section gets busy with custom roms! We may need a new section since it if a vastly different device now.

Has anyone gotten this working on a Hisense TV that has Android TV natively running?

Some of the apps won't install on my Shield TV Pro since it runs on Android 9 whereas the chromecast with google tv is on Android 10. In order to get things fully working for the Google TV home launcher such as the recommendations list, I'm guessing we will have to wait until the Shield TV gets a firmware upgrade.

Are there any apks in this that we can just install as-is into AndroidTV that's 9-based, and they will do cool new tricks over the current versions?

Did you find one that fixes the recommendations settings on the Shield?

Google only have plans to upgrade their stock android tv gui using this chromecast google tv home gui so you should test these chromecast apks on your android tv not nvidia shield, Bcos they (firetv/nvidia)wont use the chromecast GUI, If possible test those on your stock android and share the result people mostly expect that only not the results on how it perform on your nvidia.

Tested on Mi Box S, the new launcher is fast and new Assistant a great upgrade from visual and UI stand point

The thing is my bravia(2019/2020) primevideo gui is worst comparing to firetv primevideo app, if i extract firetv app and try to install in bravia, it doesnt allow because of amazon specific signatures, thats why am asking does nvidia has their own modified android which stops installing some google tv home features due to this thats what i want to check this by installing android based tv's.

Did new chromecast support installation from apk? If like to install 3rd party app other than available in play store

Love the look of the new launcher but without having to show my kodi content on the main page its kinda deal breaker for me. Kinda hoping something allows that closer to when forced to shield.

Would anyone have any information on what apks should be installed on the nvidia shield with the new Tv launcher?

• Android accessibility suite TalkBack Sabrina
• Device configuration base
• Gboard gboard tvx pre-built
• Google Play movies and TV Base
• Google Play movies and TV TV launcher X-Play movies pre-built
• Google Play Store Base

Not going yet experimenting.

Interestingly enough, using the YouTube TV apk from the ones provided changed the app icon to black from white....

Haven't yet tried installing anything other than the launcherx/search/google tv (updated google play tv & movies)... using the Mi Box 3 (non-S). Launcher looks and works great minus the issues mentioned by all such as the custom recommendations, account settings and wallpaper buttons not working but no biggie.

I did update my recommendations by using the new Google TV app on my phone, as suggested here in the comments by OP, and while I did see new rows added to the Google TV app on my phone (showtime for example)... those same "channel specific" rows have not yet showed up on my Android TV... tho there is content from everything mixed in with the various genre rows. Should I be seeing channel specific rows under the "For You"section in the Google TV launcher like it shows on my phone (HBO Max only content for example)?

I've also noticed I don't have a "continue watching" row/section.. is that supposed to be in the "For You" section somewhere?

I didn't do a factory reset or anything after adding the new launcher/search apks and I'm wondering if there's a specific apk that was already on the mi box that I should clear the data for... or if the new apks added are solely responsible for how the content shows up in the new Google TV launcher? Since everything works minus a missing "continue watching" and possibly customized recommendations... avoiding a factory reset if possible would be nice.
