Live Channels app icon missing from Google TV (Sabrina)

by Wippermonger

Just got my Chromecast with Google TV. The Live Channels app icon appears to be completely missing from the All Apps menu. I've already updated it from the play store.

However, the app can be open by talking to Google Assistant and telling it to "open Live Channels". I'd really like an app icon for this... Relying on nothing but voice to open it will definitely get annoying. Does anyone know of a workaround?

I don't have the device but someone else said you could open it under system settings then apps. I assume it will get fixed with an app update and it is a Google app so hopefully they are on that.

Well I just setup my Chromecast with Android TV and am experiencing the same issue nearly a month later. App is installed but no where to be found unless I go to settings > apps. Running HDHomeRun so there shouldn't be a problem. Frustrating.

Live Channels needs a source app (ie; Pluto, Xumo) installed or a TV Tuner (HD Homerun) on the same network for it to appear.

I don't have the device but I have nvidia shield and the "live channels" icon used to disappear there, but I use CosmiDVR to watch m3u playlist streams and when I clicked on "Start TV App" it enabled the hidden "Live Channels" icon.

I suggest you to try and see if it works, just install Cosmidvr from the play store on your device and click on "Start TV App" and see if the icon appears, you wont have to setup any playlists or do anything else.
