Chromecast keeps switching to mirroring on Chromecast with Google TV

by check_mate12813

Just recently grabbed the chromecast with Google TV and was streaming a video from the internet earlier today and though the chromecast had no trouble optimizing when I went full screen, it would not last for more than like a minute or two. Essentially, it would switch back to mirroring and say something about poor playback quality. I tried optimizing it like 6-7 times with the same results. I thought it might be the stream so i hooked up my 3rd generation chromecast and it not only optimized but stayed optimized the whole time on the first try. So i know it wasn't the stream or my internet connection.

Anybody else experience this issue with the Chromecast with Google TV and know any potential fixes? Is this something that could be resolved through a firmware update?

Thanks for any input!!

Can't you cast instead of mirroring? Most streams support cast these days.

What device are you using to stream your video from the internet?

Hey I know this is old but I'm having the same issues with pretty much the same set up.

MacBook Pro (13' 2020) -> Chromecast with Google TV

It keeps switching to mirroring. No matter what I try. Even if I drop the output from 4k to 1080p.

Using Chromecast Ultra before would never cause these issues. My router can support something like 1.6 Gbps on WiFi. So internet speed is definitely not the issue. The problem might be Chromecast thru Chrome for Mac OS.

I'm thinking that firmware update or Chrome update for Mac will be needed.

I'm having the same problem, have you been able to find a solution?
