Sony XG80 49inch, a little help

by kronaa

Heya fellas,

I have a small problem with this tv, which I, apart from that slight problem, absolutley love. Anyway, for some weird reason my Wifi will disconnect over night! It will never disconnect while in use or turned on. It only happens when i fall asleep and it auto turns off, or sometimes when i turn it off manually, and leave my house. When i come back it just says "wifi is not connected". I then just manually reconnect and everything is fine. It seems to me that, after sometime when screen turns off and tv goes to standby, wifi will disconnect for some unknown reason. I mean, i guess its not supposed to work like that, right?!

Now i tried to do some troubleshooting found on sony forums, i tried factory reaset, but its always the same. My wifi at home is 5ghz, shld i switch to 2.4maybe? The router is like few meters from tv, signal is very good no problems here. But cld this router itself (its ubee one) be a problem? Any other device that i have in house works normally. What to do, what to try? Do you guys have any suggestions? Is there a way to keep wifi always on android tv trough some setting?

Also, a small side question - do you guys think this line of bravias will be updated to andorid 9, or is it pretty much stuck on 8 because of SoC thats inside?

Thanks for any replys in advance, cheers

If it's only a few meters away could you hardwire it? It's only 100mbs so it might actually be slower than WiFi but would be stable. It's probably due to one of the eco settings that's putting the WiFi to sleep bit having issues waking it, I've not had the issue on my Sony (an XD so a bit older).

Where are you based? I know that my XD had a v9 update in Asia and the US but not the UK annoyingly.

Is there any chance that the power saving is turned on under Settings - Power - Eco? Not sure what it does exactly but turning off wifi after a while sounds like a power saving step.

Sounds silly but having alot of issues with Sony TVs and wifi lately and it's all due to the date settings. The latest update has it set to 'Broadcast' but if you don't have TV tuned in to the TV itself it's not going to update the time and date. Change it to 'Network' and Auto off and on again and it should update

The router might be disconnecting/removing the device when it's consuming data for prolonged duration. Check the Router settings.
