ATT TV not available on new google tv chromecast?

by bearabl

I bought this to replace my roku as i was annoyed that i couldnt watch hbo max on the roku. I searched the play store and found the att now app before i purchased it. Now today im setting up the chromecast and the ATT TV app is nowhere to be found. Does anyone know whats going on?

It's never been available on Android TV. You were looking at the mobile Play Store.

It is only available in its own Android TV box, the AT&T TV.

There is no AT&T TV App for Android TV. You need to sideload the Amazon app. More discussion on /r/atttvnow

You can sideload the APK from the Fire TV. This thread on XDA details this, and also provides the most up to date APK's.

Ultimate ATT TV APK Repository

Note: Most people were having trouble with the app not playing live TV. So, you must follow these instructions before or after installing the APK on your Google TV:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Go to Display & Sound
  3. Go to Advanced sound settings
  4. Change Format selection to Never
  5. Open up AT&T TV

That’s the dilemma give up hbo max on the Roku or Apple+ on the chromecast

It's sideloadable. Can do it via network or using a usb-c hub with power delivery.

Mobile play store is not same as tv play store.

At&t wants you to use their box. Even if they did provide an Androidtv app they'd likely cripple it so it can't rewind live tv like they do with the apps on other devices.

This is what sucks because of it were available for android tv, I would replace every single fire stick I own with google TV. I already have vested in other google products for my home. That is literally the missing piece my entertainment puzzle.
