How are you getting it to play from a USB flashdrive at all?

fourthletter

Just set up a plex/envy/jellyfin server on a PC and stream them. I doubt you'll be able to play anything off a usb drive.

I'll try ext3 today I'll update later today to see if it's compatible to play movies on this format

Alright I formated my flashdrive to 3ext and it doesn't work I'm going to try a micro sd next

It's crazy cause my cheap 16 gb flashdrive format fat32 works to play movies thru dongle but I can't with my samsung 256 flashdrive exfat format

Any other ideas?

What storage should I use to play movies thru dongle???

exFAT and NTFS also didn't work for me. Fat32 works. Haven't tried EXT4|3. I'm using this USB-C hub , powered by a 3A USB-C power supply I happened to have. Using Fat32 Format to format my flashdrive since Windows 10 won't format anything larger than 32GB (stupid) to Fat32. Need to switch the USB mode, in Developer options, from Charging to MTP in order to get the flashdrive mounted. Playing flashdrive content using Kodi and VLC. This setup works even while disconnected from the network, which was the whole point for my use case.
