I also made my own Live Channels shortcut with the same banner appearance as the regular app.
It shows up in the Google TV Launcher without issue

New to all of this, do you need to have services/apps that use live tv channels, or how does it work?

Is anyone having issues with the EPG jumping all over the place when there's no program data?
Do you have issues with it not loading when you click the home button? Often I find I have to click it twice and then it's really slow to load the home interface
I was able to install google tv on my tivo stream 4k. I also got tired of no app icon for Live Channels.

This link is to the apk which once installed creates a shortcut tile in the app drawer. It seems to have a different background color the two times I've installed it???
