Problem with NBC Sports native app with Chromecast with Google TV

While trying to watch English Premier League Soccer over the weekend, I could not get the native NBCsports app to work. I tried to restart, uninstall/reinstall, delete cache/data, and continue to keep getting the error "unable to play this asset."
I have the device connected directly using an ethernet connection. I can use the app on my phone and cast it to my device but the native app doesn't work. My Roku was able to play the games. Any reason why I keep getting this error or how to alleviate the issue?

I was getting the same thing. The NBC Sports app was acting weird on both my Roku and Google TV. The app was working fine on my phone so I was able to cast it.

I hope they fix it soon.

I'm having this same issue. Worked just fine on my Fire TVs, but none of my new Chromecasts. Luckily I just figured out that I can cast from the NBC Sports app on my phone to the Chromecast and it works that way. Not ideal, but better than nothing.

I've been having the same problem. Works fine on my Fire TV and Roku but not on Chromecast. Unable to play asset. Have deleted app, signed out etc. but to no avail.

Not sure if this means anything, but I've noticed that you can watch replays/highlights fine, but any live event I get "Unable to play this asset."

Here is the response I got from NBC Support; "Thank you for contacting our NBC Sports Support Team. We apologize for any inconvenience or difficulties you are experiencing using your Chromecast and for the missunderstanding.

The new Google TV with Chromecast is not yet compatible with NBC Sports applications and content. While the new Google TV is not currently compatible, older Chromecasts, Amazon Fire TV, Roku, and Apple TV 4th generation and newer are compatible for NBC Sports content."

112 days later and still not fixed, and now that nbcsn is going away at the end of the year, safe to assume it never will be.
