I have the Blitzwolf VP-3 which have Android TV 8 built-in, but the OS version is really crap. So much slow and now Im having an annoying bug which I cant turn it off, its always restarting.
Anyway, I wish to install custom ROM but Blitzwolf don't offer any support. They already sent me one .bin file with other firmware, the process was to put it in USB root and boot pressing volume down, but this firmware update they provided still really bad and still the bug.

Buy a new android TV device and plug it in the hdmi. The new Chromecast us a good choice. If the hardware is slow then nothing can be done about and you will just waste time having a poor user experience
Edit: your projector is not running Android tv but rather normal phone Android
