A question about volume control and the Nvidia shield

by e_woods

Right now I use a receiver hooked up to my tv via toslink. I can only change te volume via the buttons on the reciever, because I lost the remote.

Changing te volume of the tv does nothing.

If I would hook up a nvidiashield would it also have this problem, or does it have it's own independent volume

Also heard there was a it blaster on the remote, but I can't seem to find a compatibility list too show me if my reciever would work with it.

My reciever is a pioneer sx sw series unit

Because I would love to have just one remote and not have to walk too my reciever to change volume

Yes... with a caveat. In your case, you could leave the receiver at close to max volume and then control the audio via the Shield's remote, unless the source material has multi-channel sound. Whenever Android TV plays something in Dolby Digital, for example, its volume control is disabled and it leaves volume control to the receiver.

I'd say just buy a new remote off ebay, or a universal one.

The Shield remote has a pretty big database of IR codes. I would think a major brand like Pioneer would be included. I'd be shocked to find out otherwise.
