What's the TV to buy?

by emuboy85

I'm planning to buy a new smartTV, what's the mid-high end TV to buy at the moment?

I would love a 55 inches which would be good for HDR content and gaming, any idea?

Skip the “smart” and get an nVidia Shield. The “smart” part always sucks and is outdated in a week. You will use your tv as a monitor so pay as little as you can for the “smart” features that suck.

The Sony and Samsung share same factory and more reliable than LG / Toshiba Some of the affordable brands are quite decent.

i personally would go with a Sony XBR or Samsung 8000 series

i would also get a formuler z8 if you want good iptv

Check Wirecutter.com. I have and love my TCL Roku TV.

Don't get a Sony with Android TV as the OS. Soooooo slow just to turn the TV on.

Ignore all the old Sony users already posted, because they are using out of date Chipset Tech in their old Sony's. For 2020 there is now a BIG difference.

The 2020 Sony X900H / X900H is the most powerful Smart TV on the market packaging a snappy, powerful MediaTek MT5895 chipset under the hood along with HDMI 2.1 for next gen gaming.. There is No OS or Apps lag.

In fact it's the 2nd most powerful Android TV setup you can get after the Nvidia Shield.

You will not even need a Nvidia Shield if you get that specific Sony model.

In fact in some aspects the X900H is superior to the Shield, giving you 4K HDR YouTube and HDR Play Movies/TV which the Shield lacks. Plus you get the Apple TV App and both Apple Airplay2 support along with Chromecasting functionality.

Basically it's got everything you could need in a snappy powerful setup.

Very good to amazing HDR tvs are expensive as hell.

There are two not-dollar-busting tvs that will provide top HD/UHD/HDR right now:

  • TCL 55R625
  • TCL 55R635

Thing is they have inconsistent reliability so it's a big chance to take with TCL screens... Maybe an extended warranty would be wise.
