Have same problem for a last few days, they started limiting quality on TV but at the same time on PC I can do 4k. 2-3 weeks ago it was fine. F*ck YT...

That seems to be a common problem with Philips TVs at the moment. A lot of users have problems with low quality on YT, Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. I'm having those problems too.

I've also recently been getting this with my Philips 55PUS7303/12. It's very annoying after spending money on a 4k TV :(

720p is optimal resolution, might be that the TV is too slow for more than 720p decoding in VP9, maybe there is no HW decoder for it and the poor thing does it in software.
Google startet to serve resolutions >720p in VP9 only on many ends of Youtube access.

The reason for this is because Google limited the quality to 720p due to the pandemic, some regions are not limited anymore while others still are limited, also, some devices are not limited while others still are.

If you want you can select a fixed quality while playing a video on the quality icon, that way, every video will play in the selected quality or less depending on the availability inside every video.

I have the same problem with my Philips 4k oled TV.

Some videos only play in 720p, but on my PC the same video is in 2160p.

But this is only for some of yt videos, there are still videos which I can play perfectly in 2160p on my TV as well as on pc. Internet via optics 200mb/s, this is not a problem.

So who could I blame? YT or philips?
