Why does this app on Android TV not have the buttons in the action bar that are present on my phone?

Because it's an android app and it's not Android TV App. Not all android app are compatible

I'm guessing it has something to do with having to sideload the app onto the TV because its not officially supported, but any ideas how to get into where those buttons go?
