Xbox One S Controller can't use select/start buttons?

by Karlitos00

I have connected my Xbox One S controller to my Hisense Android TV (9.0). Everything seems to work great except it doesn't register the menu or start button or pushing down on the joysticks. When I go to Steam Link button mapping, I can't map those buttons at all and it doesn't seem to register at all.

Any thoughts or ideas? I've tried updating the controllers firmware, it's on the latest software via Xbox Accessory app. I've also unpaired and tried new batteries.

Solution in case anyone comes across this post via Google or some other means. I finally got my TV to recognize my Xbox menu and start buttons as well as my trigger clicks. Oddly enough, connecting a PS4 controller to the TV somehow made it so that the Xbox Controller started working correctly. Not sure if the solution is to connect another gamepad or if it has to be a PS4, my guess is the former.

I still can't get the "guide" (big X) button to work, but I don't really need that button anyway. Everything else works perfectly.

Button mapper didn't help?
